How To Regrow Hair Naturally For Men?

Studies indicate that hair loss is the most common hair care concern in both men and women. However, due to an increased production of the hormone dihydrotestosterone, this hair loss is far greater in men than in women.

Many sources claim that it is impossible to stimulate new hair growth on your scalp. However, advanced research suggests that a balanced diet along with gentle hair care products, and measures to tackle stress, not only reduces hair loss, but also stimulates healthy hair growth.

Stages Of Hair Growth In Men

The follicle is the primary structure out of which hair grows. The growth of hair follicles is cyclical. This cycle is divided into four phases -

  • Anagen (Growth Phase) -

At the anagen stage, three things happen. Firstly, the hair follicle starts developing its onion-like bulbous shape. Secondly, the follicle starts producing hair fibres. Thirdly, the cells in the root of the hair start dividing rapidly to form the hair shaft. At any given time, 90% of our hair is growing at this stage. The anagen phase can last for up to 2-6 years.

  • Catagen (Transition Phase) -

The catagen stage marks the end of the anagen phase. At this stage, hair starts detaching itself from the main blood supply and begins the formation of club hair or fully keratinised hair. This phase lasts for around 2-3 weeks. At any given point, between 1%-5% of our hair is in the catagen phase.

  • Telogen (Rest Phase) -

In the resting phase of the hair cycle, the club hair is fully formed and the follicle becomes dormant or inactive. At any given point, between 10%-15% of our hair is in the telogen phase and it remains at this stage for up to a couple of months or even a year.

  • Exogen (Shedding Phase) -

After the resting stage, old hair leaves its follicle and falls out. The entire cycle begins again to grow a new and healthy hair strand. This is a natural process of shedding and hair regrowth.

How To Increase Hair Growth Naturally?

  • Use Organic Peppermint Oil -

According to a study, a blend of peppermint oil and jojoba oil helps in promoting blood circulation on the scalp, encouraging new hair growth and increasing the number of hair follicles on our scalp. Menthol, an active compound in peppermint essential oil, also soothes scalp irritation, reduces dandruff, and prevents hair loss.

In a clean, dry bowl, take your favourite Juicy Chemistry carrier oil or cold pressed jojoba oil, add a few drops of organic peppermint essential oil and mix well. Use this blend as a stimulating massage oil for your scalp and hair.

Note - Patch test the prepared hair oil on your hairline to test for sensitivity and irritation.

  • Use Raw Onion Juice -

In a recent study, raw onion juice was used in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia or common baldness in 45 patients, out of which 87% of the patients demonstrated full hair regrowth within 8 weeks of consistent treatment. The study concluded that the sulphur content and phenolic compounds in onion juice stimulate hair regrowth and prevent hair fall.

Take a fresh onion bulb and obtain its pulp by grinding or grating the onion. Squeeze the pulp with the help of a muslin cloth to extract the juice. Mix one part of fresh onion juice with 3 parts of our cold pressed castor oil. A few drops of organic lemon essential oil can be added to this blend to promote scalp stimulation and cover the smell of onion juice. Use this concoction to massage your scalp and strengthen your hair roots a few hours before shampoo.

Note - Patch test the prepared blend on your hairline to test for sensitivity and irritation.

4 Holistic Hair Growth Tips

  • Balanced Diet -

Research indicates that a diet rich in vitamins A, B, C, D and E, iron, selenium and zinc plays a vital role in the development of hair follicles, prevents chances of androgenetic alopecia or common baldness in men and women and promotes hair regrowth.

  • Mild Hair Care Products -

Using gentle hair care products that are enriched with antioxidants helps to prevent oxidative stress and promote hair regrowth. Using a mild shampoo made with plant oils and natural surfactants can prevent hair thinning in the long run and keep your hair nourished and strong.

  • Scalp Stimulation -

Studies show that scalp massages reduce stress. Massage your scalp once or twice a week with an organic hair growth oil to destress and stimulate blood flow on the scalp.

  • Gentle Hair Care Practises -

Prefer air-drying your hair naturally instead of blow-drying. Avoid frequent combing and hair washing. Treat your hair gently.

Easy Hair Care Routine For Hair Growth

Step 1: Scalp Treatment

A scalp serum is formulated with active ingredients to stimulate hair regrowth. Take some natural scalp stimulating serum in your palm and massage it on your scalp with a light hand. Wait for it to get absorbed.

Step 2: Oiling

Juicy Chemistry hair oils and hair masks are made with plant extracts such as amla, bhringraj, rosemary and peppermint to nourish your scalp, strengthen your hair and prevent hair loss.

Take some pumps of a natural hair oil or nourishing hair mask in your palm and apply on your scalp. Massage for a few minutes to stimulate blood circulation. Let it absorb in your hair for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.

Step 3: Shampoo

Use a mild, natural shampoo on your scalp and hair for gentle cleansing. Take 1-2 pumps of your preferred shampoo and massage it on damp hair and scalp. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this cycle, if necessary.

Step 4: Conditioning

Use a natural conditioner on damp hair ends to prevent dryness and promote soft and glossy hair. Squeeze out excess water from your hair gently and then use your conditioner to prevent it from dripping on your skin. Allow your hair to absorb the conditioner before rinsing it off with room temperature water. Now, gently pat dry your hair with a towel or soft t-shirt.

Step 5: Serum

Take some drops of a natural hair serum, leave-in conditioner or cold-pressed oil and apply it on your hair ends to keep them moisturised and frizz-free.
