Lavandula Angustifolia aka Lavender is one of the most popular herbs in medicinal and wellness rituals around the world due to its extremely soothing aroma and a wide array of therapeutic properties. But using lavender oil for skin and hair too has plenty of benefits.
The purple lavender buds/flowers are steam distilled to extract the essential oil which is rich in volatile compounds. This potent oil has a strong floral, woody aroma with various uses for skincare, haircare, and aromatherapy. It is a versatile oil most commonly used for alleviating stress, anxiety and reducing inflammation.
Chemical Composition Of Lavender EO
The main bioactive compounds present in lavender essential oil for face are linalool, linalyl acetate, 1,8-cineole, lavandulol, terpinene-4-ol, and camphor. How To Use Lavender Essential Oil
Juicy Chemistry’s Lavender Essential Oil is made from fresh Kashmiri lavender using the steam distillation process. It is certified organic by Ecocert and does not have any additives.
Since it is an essential oil and thus highly concentrated, we recommended diluting it with cold-pressed oils for topical applications. Here are a few ways to safely use lavender oil for skin, body and hair.
-
For Skin
Dilute lavender oil with one of our organic cold-pressed oils and massage it into your skin. We always recommended essential oil should not exceed 1% of the total concoction. For eg. If you are using 100ml of carrier oil, ensure the total concentration of essential oils is NOT more than 1ml.
-
For Hair
Dilute lavender EO with an appropriate carrier oil of your choice. Massage this lavender hair oil into your scalp and hair and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with one of our gentle organic shampoos. Can be repeated 2-3 times a week as a therapeutic hair care ritual.
-
For Aromatherapy
Add a few drops of oil into your aroma diffuser to inhale its calming aroma. Or sprinkle 4-5 drops around your pillow before going to bed to improve sleep quality. You can also add a few drops into your bath water for a grant, relaxing bath.
